WHY SHOULD I? BY SUE GRAVES
Why Should I?
Arin doesn’t understand why he needs to be respectful. He acts carelessly, interrupts others, and sometimes says unkind things—leaving his friends, family, and teacher feeling upset. When his parents and teacher tell him he should be more respectful, Arin is confused.
Seeking guidance, he turns to his Grandma, who helps him understand respect in a way that makes sense. She asks him to imagine how he would feel if someone ignored his feelings, broke his things, or laughed at what he likes.
As Arin begins to think about respect from a new perspective, he decides to make an effort to treat others with kindness and consideration. He soon realizes that when he shows respect, others treat him better in return.
A thoughtful and engaging story, Why Should I? helps children understand the importance of respect, empathy, and positive relationships. Perfect for parents, caregivers, and teachers encouraging social-emotional learning.
